Travel Grants

The 14th World Congress on Inflammation 2019 is delighted to be able to offer financial support, through the following three travel grants for delegates to attend the Congress in Sydney.

1. IAIS Young Investigator Awards: less than 3 years’ post-doc (at time of abstract submission), $800 travel grant (AUD)
2. Society for Leukocyte Biology Travel Awards. USD$500 to support travel costs to attend the World Congress of Inflammation 2019 in Sydney. Applicants for this award must be current Society of Leukocyte Biology members.
3. 14th WCI 2019 Travel Awards. ECRs (students and post-docs less than 5 years since PhD conferral at time of abstract submission), registration waived.

IAIS Young Investigator Awards

Application requirements

The International Association of Inflammation Societies (IAIS) sponsors a competition for the encouragement of young scientists to perform exploratory and applied research in the general area of inflammation.

Contestants must be candidates for advanced degrees: M.S., Ph.D., M.D., D.O., D.D.S., D.V.M., graduate students or less than 3rd year post-doctoral fellows. Those who have won first place in a previous year are ineligible to compete again. Through this award, the IAIS wishes to develop a commitment to high quality inflammation research in young scientists.

Each of the four winners will receive AUD $800 towards the costs of travel to Sydney

The decision of the Organising Committee on awarding travel grants to attend WCI 2019 is final, and no discussion will be entered into;

  • The award of all travel grants to attend WCI 2019 to Congress delegates (hereafter 'delegates') is entirely contingent on the financial support provided by WCI 2019, IAIS and SLB.
  • All funds will be allocated with due consideration to ensuring equitable gender and citizenship representation wherever possible
  • The applicant must have submitted an abstract to the Congress;
  • A brief resume of the applicant (maximum 2 pages) listing their academic qualifications and research achievements;

The closing date of abstract submissions is the final submission date: 15 April 2019. Applicants must indicate on the abstract submission form if you wish to be considered for the Award at time you lodge your abstract.

Society for Leukocyte Travel Awards

Application requirements

The Society for Leukocyte Biology has two Travel Awards available to current financial members of the Society for Leukocyte Biology. The award comprises of USD$500 to support travel costs to attend the World Congress of Inflammation 2019 in Sydney.

The decision of the Organising Committee on awarding travel grants to attend WCI 2019 is final, and no discussion will be entered into;

  • The award of all travel grants to attend WCI 2019 to Congress delegates (hereafter 'delegates') is entirely contingent on the financial support provided by WCI 2019, IAIS and SLB.
  • All funds will be allocated with due consideration to ensuring equitable gender and citizenship representation wherever possible
  • The applicant must have submitted an abstract to for the Congress;
  • A brief resume of the applicant (maximum 2 pages) listing their academic qualifications and research achievements;

WCI 2019 Travel Awards

Application requirements

The 14th World Congress on Inflammation has a number of Travel Awards available to Early Career Researchers (students or post-docs less than 5 years since PhD conferral at time of abstract submission). Recipients of this award will receive Complimentary Registration to the value of $995 for post-docs and $495 for students.

The decision of the Organising Committee on awarding travel grants to attend WCI 2019 is final, and no discussion will be entered into;

  • The award of all travel grants to attend WCI 2019 to Congress delegates (hereafter 'delegates') is entirely contingent on the financial support provided by WCI 2019, IAIS and SLB.
  • All funds will be allocated with due consideration to ensuring equitable gender and citizenship representation wherever possible
  • The applicant must have submitted an abstract to for the Congress;
  • A brief resume of the applicant (maximum 2 pages) listing their academic qualifications and research achievements;
